For ~ Poets United ~ Poetry Pantry # 199 ~ Passage to Gilgit ~ Land of the Naked Mountain

Gilgit - Natures Heaven on Earth in the Northern Mountain Ranges of Pakistan Where beauty reigns supreme  where greenery carpets the valleys and blue fills the streams  where Markhor's majestic homes abound high above in cool sunlight they  bask in royalty on higher ground  where they are the symbol of bravery and sacrifice perched proud in Gardens of Chinaar with names engraved of martyrs of war' where horses gallop on the beat of the drum play polo and breathe in the weather's stum where cool winds whistle and streams hum  where women are happy covered and capped and men play sweet notes on flute...

NAPOWRIMO ~ Day 25 ~ Anaphora Challenge ~ I Dream of a Place of Peace ~

Image
So today, I challenge you to write a poem that uses anaphora. Find a phrase, and stick with it — learn how far it can go. I dream of a Place of Peace But dreams are in vain Time and again there is pain; I was brought to a Promised Land Created with killing, insane; Where remnants of blood Traces of flood, Sensations of fear remain; I dream of a place secure Clean colorful and pure But I am not sure As I see  the flying roof of a bus As I hear  the terrifying sound of a blast OH how long is it going to last? As I fear One moment in time May be so fast , before we know And thus we are......no where, no more; I dream of a moment of hope, Of a land where I may be And I may for eternity, stay; Truer than any dream and I With good grace and gratitude  Be happy for ever and pray.

NAPOWRIMO ~ Day 19 ~ O' Thou Spicy Triangular Nutmeg ~

Image
Today I challenge you to take a look at the list of actual sea shell names below, and to use one or more of them to write a poem. You poem doesn’t have to be about sea shells at all — just inspired by one or more of the names. O' Spicy Triangular Nutmeg O Nutmeg  Spice sprouting from the grand root tree like sweet honey caramel to the core some say thou art a sea shell but are you? so red and not white or green or sea blue? O Nutmeg nostalgia surrounds as I float back in time to 'the little nut tree' nothing would it bear, but a silver nutmeg and a golden pear' It was the King of Spain's daughter not Clementine, who came to visit 'and all for the sake of the little nut tree' I wonder if the silver nutmeg was spicy? but for all the nuts it was special for it brought royalty' O Nutmeg thou art special too On day 19 of Napowrimo chosen from the silver tree to poetic Oceans

NAPOWRIMO ~ Day 24 ~ Bridges Built with Faith ~

Image
Today, I challenge you to do the same (for one day, at least), and to write a poem that features walls, bricks, stones, arches, or the like. I see from above, this land abound only one land mass, one ground open to view amid the vast  ocean blue,  no line, no divide  all in one stride,  all in one piece  like a bridge, linking all brick by brick, arch by arch curve by curve, edge by edge unlike walls forsaken built around lands taken- wailed against sobbed with, shot blindfolded before innocent guilty or mistaken, till ages pass and generations  awaken, they are blasted and broken, bridges are links that connect make way for  ease and defect to safer havens and escapes to greener pastures and landscapes lets build more bridges connect the rivers and the ridges  lets not shoot doves and partridges, casting fire on distant lands leaves us all stranded on bare stands Earth shakes and many stumble Iron stone ...

For ~ REAL TOADS Challenge : Shape Poem ~ The Flowers Came

I  sat  in the  terrace door looking closely    at all the flowers outside pink and white bowers I said how Nature brings Spring  all color to fresh new things  how lovely the flowers look  fresh peace from The Book I thought I wished I prayed God listens to  our prayers what if, the flowers  outside if some would come  inside and like a miracle that manifests truth by evening that day and in answer to prayer a large bouquet, same color to share green beside greetings sent by brother but I knew the true aside The Lord Most Gracious had heard me as always  Most Merciful and  Loving  sent the flowers inside.

For POETS UNITED ~ Poetry Pantry 198 ~ Ah Old Harley Street, If Only You could Speak

Image
Ah Old Harley Street, If Only You could Speak Where art thou? With All Thy Grace and Treat Where evening cool breeze would gently sweep And the open spaces would be free and neat; Where I learned to ride the bicycle and Greet My friends who came out to meet-  Ah Harley Street! where art thou? With memories sweet- This same road where bell tingling tongas With strong horses and shining leather reins  Would lift the learning loads and stay on the beat- At that time, this same road was all for residents  No sounds, not even an innocent lambs bleat. Ah Harley Street! where art thou? So defiant in dilapidated defeat!- YOU seem to be there still serving in retreat- Though gone is the tar rubble crush and concrete; Ah Harley Street . All is not lost. Courage never to submit or yield- YOU have the BEST on YOU YOU are replete with –Institutes of Education Tuition Guidance and ...

Image
Holy Month of Ramazan has  gone. When fasts restrain and make us patient It trains in self negation strengthening belief;           Teaches the art of giving and forgiving           eating nor drinking, important is simple living           purifying body  cleaning spirit so sinning This Holy Month is a blessing a celebration  a night's prayer equals thousand nights meditation obedience tolerance solution solutions to solutions but why  People are praying for peace and relief from  social holy disturbances of disbelief- This month is destined to end on a happy note and it did- but not for all, today or tomorrow There are now regions of sorrow- Threats of shooting killing  blasting OH There is Providence in the Fall  Of a sparrow-  Has conscience made a coward of us All? What has Man achieved since the Great Fall       ...

TIME Poems ~ Changes Tell Us the Time ~

Image
Changes Tell Us the Time  years that passed,  months that were happy and decent,  days we believe were recent moments sad and terrifying; Changes Tell Us the Time – So much is lost- which I called mine;  laughter, giggles and  shrieks-  silent heads down and 'stand in line',  innocent pensive silences,  standing and talking against fences, Changes Tell Us the Time, In moments captured in pictures, outlook fronts and fixtures black and white color mixtures, Changes Tell Us the Time AH Changes tell us the innocent unknowing mistakes we made How much a symbol inspired caused pain in the shade? Changes Tell Us- Its Time, Age, Beauty that must fade Earth dug and ready  where bodies must be laid, Ah Innocent One, cut me no more  for I bleed inside For my errors and sins, I am paying and have paid.

For POETS UNITED ~ Poetry Pantry #197 ~ The Road in the Greens ~

Image
Inspired by a  recent visit to a Hill Station in the Northern Areas of Pakistan ~ It did not look like  the 'road not taken' nor did it seem untrodden though silently deserted, cranky voices of travellers mumbling, walking slowly, some with sticks some with bags clothes tattered, soiled like rags what wanderers, gypsies or knights are these, perhaps disguised, going where? to unknown inns and places, who will find the real traces of cart and carriage wheels dug deep ruts in mud and mire, who will know Ye Olde Captain smelling of rum and whiskey? in strange attire-patriotic spirit afire what sweet whistles and jingles of keys and songs are these? what rustling of maps and tinkles  of coins, of silver and gold dusty and crumpled but preciously held, as sonorously they stumble- forward determined, some on horses, like amblers, no racers, no hurry no worry, they move and giggle n g rumple, no heroic braves may know...

Today, let’s rewrite a famous poem.  Pear Tree      by     Hilda. Doolittle Silver dust    Golden Crust spread on ground all approachable under my feet you have lain O Golden Crust all approachable under my feet what more do you have beneath? all plants colored grow tenderly broken by a blow no leaves ever in white show though all from golden crust glow O Golden Crust your stone gems studded embedded in black bring winter fire hotly back with warm ashy stems.

For POETS UNITED ~ Midweek Motif ~ Distractions, or Stops Along the Way

Image
Today I invite poems about surprises in the best-laid plans--or detours you wish you had planned or prevented.  Or the affect of days of rest and holiday on the main dish of life. Distraction?  Rest?  Or a Better Way? I traced some patterns in life and looked at them for long, thought they were strong in design color and length, But I was told I was wrong- I drew some lines in symbols shapes and signs erased and drew again till my fingers grew numb and my wrist cried 'pain' I believed all was bright But I was told I was not right- I gathered some letters and arranged them in words I read them over and over I thought I had the idea  from under the dark cover but someone knew better  and I was entangled  in iron fetters- I passed some innocent smiles being told to be nice polite and mannered well,  I thought I was human, held Truth and Prayer as my weapon, But I was dragged away for miles ...
