Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth,The parable of His Light is as if there were a niche,And within it a Lamp: The Lamp enclosed in Glass;The glass as it were a brilliant star;Lit from a blessed Tree,An Olive, neither of the East nor of the West,Whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it;Light upon Light!Allah doth set forth parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.surah 24:35 Al Nur (The Light)

For The Glass The Light Passes Descends from Poets United

'Her eyen grey as glas' just as

the poet perceived them to be

as if responding to the asking

dark ones, she said,sadly sadly

'I am but a listed item

like multicolored marbles

in a glass jar,placed on a bar

in a shop, for buyers

like framed mirrors hanging

in the malls reflecting anxious

seekers rolling their own

light and dark 'eyen glas'

like specially cut pieces

sharply pointed fixed on

protective walls but as

entrapment for intruders

like empty wine bottles on

the street, struck kicked by

drunk or sober,passerby's

feet, rejected lover's treat

If only I could be

my efforts directed

my spirit free, seeking first

the Light of Knowledge

truthfully, spreading and sharing

for peace love friendship

universal tranquility

then I may just be a

tiny particle of myriads

glowing Gems of Glass

in spheres celestial serving

The Creator, and humanity

if destined ordained blessed

... till eternity...

Such images of emptiness contrast the glow of Allah so that it is clear where we are in relationship. Anyone would prefer to be aglow--even tiny and in a multitude--than to be any of the things presented herein. What a powerful and leading poem. The photographs are not necessary because your words do so much, but I like them anyway and the care witrh which they intersperse and pace the poem. It cannot be read fast, and that is right.
