He never learnt to drive
Nor could ride the bicycle
Ice cream is too sweet he said
no cup nor cone nor popsicle


locks and door knobs 
soon are broken,lost are the keys,
shoes and joggers are tight,
wobbly are the knees



and so she has to do most jobs
technical electrical digital much
unwilling to learn,alas simply lazy
can't teach now would rather avoid


there is a vast difference between
an old receiving dialing phone 
the floor gear car and a hybrid auto
and the latest  android system, touch'

Everyday can be new, if we allow ourselves to see it that way. Sad that some just repeat their unknown and refuse to risk learning.

Anjum, I don't know anyone with all these shortcomings but I know or have known all these in several different people.
My SIL doesn't drive, neither did her mom.beforr her. We had a person that I worked with didn't want to try the new skills he had learned. My belief is that all your folk lack a passion for adventure.

Dear All Thank you for your kind visit and interesting thought provoking comments. The person of the poem does have other qualities but there is no hope of learning new things and moving with the times. Happiness reigns in passivity.

I do remember a few oldies many years ago when I was youth similar to my grandparents age that found it hard to adapt to the changes after World War 2. I was occasionally sent round to to do little jobs for them.

I've experienced some of these frustrations at work. Some people just don't want to take the time to learn what they need in order to move forward. And sometimes it has nothing to do with age, but with the fact that they don't want to. Makes no sense to me.
